Pride of Barbados

The Pride of Barbados, Caesalpinia pulcherrima, has many names. It is also know as Dwarf Poinciana and Red Bird of Paradise. This loose, airy shrub with small green leaves has a fern-like appearance. It likes full sun and is drought and heat tolerant. It can grow up to 6 x 9 ft. Orange and yellow clusters of exotic lacy flowers will bloom from spring and continue on and off through the fall. The shrub is also very attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds.
