The Lily of the Valley Forest Flame, Pieris x 'Forest Flame,' is an attractive shrub that provides year round interest. The brilliant red, then pinkish white foliage is the backdrop for profuse blooms of broad white flower clusters. It flowers in the spring and can grow to 6 feet. It prefers partial sun and well drained soil. A regular watering schedule with well drained soil will encourage a deep root system. Feed the Pieris with an acid fertilizer after blooming and keep roots mulched to keep them cool. They make an excellent companion shrub for azaleas.
