Ixora Chinensis

Insider's secret

Ixoras need a warm, frost-free climate to grow outdoors as they are frost tender; in the tropics, they appreciate a part-shaded position, and in cooler climates they are grown in greenhouses. Humus-rich, moist but freely drained, friable soils and high humidity suit them best, and they need regular water during the warmer months. light pruning after flowering in fall or late winter will maintain shape; spent flowerheads should also be removed. Propagate from cuttings in summer or from seed in spring.
