Crape Myrtles

Lagerstroemia indica Common Crape myrtle is a handsome summer flowering shrub or small tree of variable habit. It is often seen in multi-stemmed form with a cloud of foliage reserved for the upper half of the plant while the basal portion is leafless and only the handsome bark is evident. The plants reach a height of 15 - 25' with a spread of 18" or more. The leaves are 1 - 2.75" long and are yellow, orange, or red in the fall. The flowers are 1 - 1.5" wide and are produced in 6 - 8" long and 3 - 5" wide panicles. Colors range from white to pink to purple to deep red. There are many cultivars available.
